ܘܐܬܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܩܘܪܝܬ ܢܥܪܝܢ ܘܐܣܩܘܗܝ ܠܐܪܘܢܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܝܬܝܘܗܝ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܒܝܢܕܒ ܕܒܓܒܥܬܐ ܘܩܕܫ ܠܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܒܪܗ ܘܢܛܪ ܐܪܘܢܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ

The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took Yahweh’s ark, and brought it into Abinadab’s house on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep Yahweh’s ark.

ܘܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܝܬܒ ܐܪܘܢܐ ܒܩܘܪܝܬ ܢܥܪܝܢ ܘܣܓܝܘ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܘܗܘܝ ܐܝܟ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ ܘܐܫܬܕܝܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܬܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' bthr 'ysryl dbyth klhwn w'shthdyw shnyn esryn 'yk whwy ywmth' wsgyw neryn bqwryth 'rwn' dythb ywm' mn whw'
From the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, the time was long—for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh.

ܘܐܡܪ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܟܠܗ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܢ ܒܟܠܗ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܡܬܦܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܥܒܪܘ ܐܠܗ̈ܐ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܘܓܢܝ̈ܬܐ ܘܐܬܩܢܘ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܦܘܠܚܘܗܝ ܠܗ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܢܦܨܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ

Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

ܘܐܥܒܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܥܠܐ ܘܓܢܝ̈ܬܐ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ

Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only.

ܘܐܡܪ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܟܢܫܘ ܠܟܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܐܨܠܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm elykwn w'tsl' lmtspy' 'ysryl lklh knshw shmw'yl w'mr
Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”

ܘܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܡܠܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܫܕܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܨܡܘ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܚ̈ܛܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܢ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܒܡܨܦܝܐ
bmtspy' 'ysr'yl lbny shmw'yl wdn lmry' dkhTyn mTl w'mrw hw bywm' wtsmw mry' qdm w'shdw my' wmlw lmtspy' w'thknshw
They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

ܘܫܡܥܘ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܕܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܣܠܩܘ ܛܪ̈ܘܢܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܘܫܡܥܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ

When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܐ ܬܫܬܘܩ ܡܢܢ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܥܠܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܕܢܦܪܩܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ

The children of Israel said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying to Yahweh our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.”

ܘܢܣܒ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܐܡܪܐ ܚܕ ܕܚܠܒܐ ܘܐܣܩܗ ܥ̇ܠܬܐ ܓܡܝܪܬܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܨܠܝ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܥܢܝܗܝ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' wenyhy 'ysryl bny el mry' qdm shmw'yl wtsly lmry' gmyrth' elth' w'sqh dkhlb' khd 'mr' shmw'yl wnsb
Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Samuel cried to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.

ܘܗܘܐ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܡܣܩ ܥ̇ܠܬܐ ܘܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܩܪܒܘ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܪܥܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܥܠ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܕܠܚ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܬܬܒܪܘ ܩܕܡ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl qdm w'ththbrw 'nwn wdlkh plshthy' el hw bywm' rm' bql' mry' wrem 'ysryl bny em lmthkthshw qrbw wplshthy' elth' msq shmw'yl whw'
As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to battle against Israel; but Yahweh thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel.

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܪܕܦܘ ܠܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܚܪܒܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܬܚܬ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܝܫܢ

The men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and struck them until they came under Beth Kar.

ܘܢܣܒ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܟܐܦܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܣܡ ܒܝܬ ܡܨܦܝܐ ܠܒܝܬ ܝܫܢ ܘܩܪܐ ܫܡܗ̇ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܥܘܕܪܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܪܟܐ ܥܕܪܢ ܡܪܝܐ

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Yahweh helped us until now.”

ܘܐܬܬܒܪܘ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܘܣܦܘ ܬܘܒ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܠܡܐܬܐ ܠܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܗܘܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܗ ܕܫܡܘܐܝܠ
dshmw'yl ywmthh klhwn bplshthy' dmry' 'ydh whwth d'ysryl lthkhwm' lm'th' plshthy' thwb 'wspw wl' plshthy' w'ththbrw
So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. Yahweh’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

ܘܐܗܦܟܘ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܢܣܒܘ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܥܩܪܘܢ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܓܬ ܘܬܚ̈ܘܡܝܗܝܢ ܘܦܨܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐܡܘܪ̈ܝܐ
l'mwry' 'ysryl byth shlm' whw' dplshthy' 'yd' mn l'ysryl mry' wptsy wthkhwmyhyn lgth wedm' eqrwn mn l'ysryl 'ysryl mn plshthy' dnsbw qwry' w'hpkw
The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

ܘܕܢ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܟܘܠ ܝܘܡ̈ܝ ܚܝ̈ܘܗܝ

Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

ܘܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܫܢܐ ܠܫܢܐ ܘܡܬܟܪܟ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܘܠܓܠܓܠܐ ܘܠܡܨܦܝܐ ܘܕܐܢ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܬܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn 'thrwth' wlklhwn l'ysryl wd'n wlmtspy' wlglgl' 'yl lbyth wmthkrk lshn' shn' mn hw' w'zl
He went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.

ܘܗܦܟ ܗܘܐ ܠܪܡܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܬܡܢ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬܗ ܘܬܡܢ ܕܐܢ ܗܘܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܒܢܐ ܬܡܢ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ

His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to Yahweh there.
